The therapist is playing the guitar and singing “When The Saints Go Marching In”, and all of the clients have hand-held instruments (egg shakers work very well). The therapist then has the client(s) do just what the lyric says, march, while playing their instrument. You can then change the lyric and therefore the motion, e.g. “Oh when the saints, play up high…”, or “play down low”, etc. You can do movements with legs, arms, and upper body (play up high, down low, to the side, the other side, marching, lift their legs, lean to one side, lean to the other, etc). You can sing the song through with just one motion, or you can mix it up and change it every time you would usually say “go marching in”, etc.
